Louisville Bedding Company is proud to announce that its newest product, the FireDefender™ Sleep System, was awarded the winner of the "Most Innovative New Product" category in the fifth semi-annual Textiles Industry Awards. The contest was sponsored by industry magazine Home Textiles Today.
The most recent in Louisville Bedding Company's long history of product innovations, the patent pending FireDefender™ Sleep System, a two-piece flame resistant mattress and box spring cover set, was honored by industry peers for providing mattress sets with a level of protection that meets the new federal standards for flammability (open flame) of mattress sets by using non-toxic, natural flame resistant materials without the use of chemical additives.
"Louisville Bedding Company is honored to receive this prestigious award and is looking forward to the official national launch of the FireDefender™ Sleep System in May," said Steve Elias, President and CEO, Louisville Bedding Company. "Our research shows great consumer interest in the product and its potential to save lives. We especially want to thank our retail partners for their ongoing support of the FireDefender™ Sleep System and other Louisville Bedding Company licensed products. This product is another example of the leadership role Louisville Bedding Company has played in the industry for its 117 years in business."
The company's history of product "firsts" include the patented Expand-A-Grip® mattress pad skirt, (over 100 million sold to date) which completely revolutionized this category in the bedding industry; the first licensed national brand name in basic bedding (Simmons, 1986) and the first authentic waterproof mattress pad along with innovative packaging for waterproof products. Throughout its history, Louisville Bedding Company has always led the industry by providing higher standards for bedding products, including thread count, fill weight and the good/better/best standards for merchandise. Years ago, Louisville Bedding Company developed the first quilted placemat, which became the best selling product in the table linen department and set a precedent for the company's long record of industry innovation.
"Together, Louisville Bedding Company and its partners will give consumers an opportunity to save lives and property with the FireDefender™ Sleep System, the first innovative bedding product of its kind," said Elias.
